Icicle Pickles Recipe
- Quarter medium sized cucumbers, lengthwise.
- Add 1 pint salt to 1 gallon boiling water.
- Pour over pickles and let stand 7 days, stirring each day.
- Drain and cover with boiling water in which a chunk of alum (size of
a walnut) is dissolved.
- Let stand 1 day.
- Drain
Syrup:
- 4 1/2 pt. sugar
- 2 qt. vinegar
- Pickling spices
- Boil and put on cucumbers for 4 days, pouring off and reheating the syrup each day.
- The fourth day, put in jars and cover with boiling syrup and seal.
