Bread and Butter Pickles Recipe

  • 4 qt. small cukes, sliced thin
  • 8 small onions
  • 2 green peppers, sliced
  • 1/2 c. salt
    1. Cover with cold water.
    2. Let stand 3 hours.
    3. Drain and add:
      • 5 c. sugar
      • 3 1/2 c. vinegar
      • 2 Tbsp. dry mustard
      • Salt to taste
      • 1 tsp. celery seed
      • 1/2 tsp. turmeric powder
    4. Bring to boil.
    5. Add cucumber mixture and let them get hot.
    6. Pack in jars

Makes 7 pints
