Candied Yams Recipes

  • 4 yams
  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup of pancake syrup
  • 2 tbl. of margarine
  1. Cook whole yam until semi-soft.
  2. Cool and cut lengthwise in half.
  3. Place in baking pan.
  4. Sprinkle brown sugar on top.
  5. Pour syrup on top.
  6. Distribute margarine on top.
  7. Bake 20 min. in a 350 degree oven.

Tips for Yams

You can store pre-baked peeled yams in your freezer. Allow the yams to cool completely after baking. I recommend placing the yams in a plastic container after baking. Cover loosely with a lid. This will retain the moisture while the yams cool to room temperature. You can store baked peeled yams in your freezer for months.

Yams can be stored for several months at 55 degrees F.
