Raisin Bread
Ingredients:
- 6 1/2 cups flour
- 3/4 cup sugar plus 1 tbls.
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 pkgs. dry yeast
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup water
- 4 tbls. margarine
- 1 1/2 cups raisins
- 1 egg
Directions:
- In large bowl, thoroughly mix 2 1/2 cups flour, sugar, salt, yeast
- Combine water and margarine in a saucepan and heat on low until warm
- Gradually add dry ingredients and beat 2 minutes on medium speed
- Add remaining flour to make stiff batter(best to blend with hands)
- Cover; let rise in warm place for 1 hour
- Work dough, fold in raisins, work again
- Shape into 2 loaves; cover; let rise another hour
- Bake on cookie sheet for 40-45 minutes at 350 degrees
